Logging, sawing, drying, and using wood are all of great interest to me. But in the last few years woodturning has become my all consuming pastime. In July 2007 I bought a new Jet 1642 VS woodturning lathe. Things haven't been the same since. Turning has been quite a challenge; the learning process much more difficult than I expected. But at the same time it has been extremely satisfying. Woodworkers in general, and woodturners in particular are a very generous bunch when it comes to sharing their knowledge. I have benefitted greatly from internet forums such as American Association of Woodturners, Woodturners America, Sawmill Creek, Wood Central and others. I also joined the Tennessee Association of Woodturners and the Mid-South Woodturners Guild. In 2009 I initiated the formation of a new woodturning club in our local area called West Tennessee Woodturners. All of these resources have been invaluable. There are quite a few pictures of the results of my learning process in our gallery, which is undergoing revision. Click on the camera below to view them. (You will notice, photography is not listed as one of my hobbies.)
I am in the process of redoing the entire
woodworking section of this web site. It will be at
